about us
Together, we are standing for the future of Lake Rotoiti, because delay is no longer an option.
Spearheaded by John Gifford, Chair of the Lakes Water Quality Society, the Fix Ōhau Wall is a community-driven campaign that is a culmination of passionate residents of Rotorua and backed by the Lake Rotoiti Community Association and committee members with a shared vision to protect the long-term water quality and ecological integrity of Lake Rotoiti.
The primary focus is to put a stop to the ongoing leakage of nutrient and algae-laden Lake Rotorua water through the deteriorating Ōhau Diversion Wall before irreversible damage is done.
Waiting for council action has long passed. Together, the community is not asking for a temporary fix but a durable, lasting engineering solution that will continue to protect the environment and Lake Rotoiti.
